Perlmutter rep says he has a “plan B” for the bank bill

By Sam Reisman (June 9, 2022, 7:40 p.m. EDT) – The congressman behind a bipartisan bill to expand the cannabis industry’s access to banking services said Thursday that he had a “plan B” to pass the legislation through the U.S. Senate as the basis for a compilation bill that would bring together many elements of incremental reform.

Speaking to cannabis lawyers on the first day of an International Cannabis Bar Association conference in Washington, DC, Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo., said he hoped his SAFE Banking Act could be passed as part of the America Competes Act, a huge investment bill currently in conference.

But if the investment bill doesn’t turn out…
