VitalConnect Receives Investment from HCA Healthcare


Vital Connecta San Jose, Calif.-based developer of remote and in-hospital wearable biosensor technology, has received an investment from Health Insight Capital, the investment arm of HCA Healthcare Inc. (NYSE: HCA).

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate its cardiac monitoring business segment while advancing key patient remote monitoring of people with heart failure (HF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD) and sepsis, among others.

Led by CEO Peter Van Haur, VitalConnect provides wearable biosensor technology for wireless patient monitoring in hospital and remote populations. Its products are designed for use in a wide range of inpatient and outpatient settings, such as inpatient monitoring, post-discharge care, cardiac monitoring and pharmaceutical solutions. The VitalPatch enables real-time monitoring remotely or in the hospital, allowing physicians to optimize the delivery of care to their patients.
Founded in 2011, the company has deployed hundreds of thousands of biosensors across the world, including healthcare institutions such as Brigham and Women’s, Hackensack Medical Center, Northwell Health and John Radcliffe Hospital-Oxford University.
